Display

User selectable for 12 or 24 hour operation. Bright red, green, yellow or blue, colour matched and brightness selected LED characters. Ultra bright, daylight visible red or yellow/amber LEDs are available for SE models used for outdoor or very high ambient light conditions. The display brightness can be manually pre-set or controlled automatically.

The following optional display modes may be selected by the user:

alternating date and time, time and temperature and date, time and temperature display modes
alternating time-temperature alternating time - date
alternating temperature - time - date
note. temperature display requires optional 406 temperature sensor
when the digital clock is displaying time and temperature or time and date the interval between display changes is user adjustable.
Internal clock The internal time base is pre-programmed for leap years and the local automatic seasonal time changes can be programmed by the user.
Case construction Clock cases are finished in high quality brushed black or silver anodising and manufactured from aluminium extrusion and sheet. Digital Clock enclosures can also be supplied painted to any standard RAL colour as an extra cost option. Ten different case installation options are available for all applications.
Power supply The 400A series LED digital clock range can be supplied for operation from 110 or 230v 50/60 Hz ac supplies or from 12v, 24v or 48v dc supplies at extra cost. The operational location and supply voltage should be specified at time of order so that the unit is supplied with the correct mains connection.

stopwatch operation to top of page
simple stopwatch operation using external switches The digital clock can be user programmed to function as a simple stopwatch controlled by two user supplied, voltage free, switch contacts connected to screw terminals on the rear of the clock or internally in the case of .SE models.
The two switches function as stop/start and hold/reset controls. The display may be programmed to show a stopwatch count in hours, minutes and seconds (hours and minutes for 420A model) or minutes, seconds and 1/100 seconds (minutes and seconds for 420A model).
stopwatch operation using 496A control panel type 496A stopwatch control panel The 496A stopwatch control panel provides a convenient means of operating a 401A, 420A or 490A digital clock as a simple stopwatch. The 496A panel is fitted with sealed switches and is intended for flush mounting.
The panel is also available mounted in a hand-held case or in an enclosure suitable for wall mounting.
programmable stopwatch operation using 402A control panel type 402A stopwatch control panel The 402A stopwatch control panel enables 401A, 420A or 490A series LED digital clocks to be used both as multi-function programmable up/down stopwatches and as time-of-day clocks with the display freely switchable between time-of-day and stopwatch time. The following counting modes are programmable:
  • up from zero
  • count down from a pre-programmed start-time to stop at zero.
  • count down from a pre-programmed start-time and then up through zero.
  • continuously count down to zero with automatic restart from a pre-programmed start time.

timekeeping & synchronisation to top of page
401x, 420x,and 490x series digital clocks will operate as stand-alone clocks or may be synchronised from a wide range of external time references.
Stand-alone operation When used in stand-alone configuration the digital wall clock maintains time keeping from a high stability internal crystal controlled time base. The clock can be user programmed for the appropriate local automatic seasonal time-change and is pre-programmed for leap-years.
Standard synch. modes
  • w482® time code
  • MSF & DCF radio time codes (requires 484 series radio time code receiver)
  • GPS satellite time signals (requires 488 series GPS time synchronisation sub-system)
  • alternate and single polarity 12-48v impulses
  • MB serial & MOBAline® time codes
Optional synch. modes
  • EBU or SMPTE time code - requires optional 404.E internal interface
  • IRIG-B and afnor NFS 87 500 time codes - requires optional 404.I module
  • NTP option allows synchronisation via an ethernet interface from a remote master clock or time source
Master mode 401x, 420x and 490x series digital wall clocks can act as a master to control up to ten 400A series LED clocks and calendar clocks as slaves when fitted with an internal 404.M module.
